Curses!

I've just discovered that Anne McCaffrey is now allowing fanfic. Now all those plot bunnies that I've successfully held at bay by telling them they wouldn't get any glory if I wrote them, are coming back with vicious force.

For those of you who don't know, Ms. McCaffrey is the author of the Dragonriders of Pern series (plus a whole lot more), which I highly recommend.

Now, I want to write a fic in which Liz is trapped on Pern...and the team has to save her. Probably will become either a McKay/Weir or Zelenka/Weir, depending on my mood.

*sigh*

M.A.

Who is going to go slowly insane from plot bunnies...

I love, LOVE the Pern series. :)
...odd though, I was under the impression that Anne McCaffrey passed away somewhat recently. Am I really off here?

Ooh, crossover! The Atlantis team finds a gate to Pern! Rodney freaks out because he has to fly a dragon! There's a thought. I can really picture Teyla as a kickass dragonrider too.

Bunnies, bunnies, bunnies...

Yeah, DROP is my favorite of all the ones I've read, though I'm partial to the Powers trilogy and the first two Acorna novels.

Of course, I first read Dragonsdawn when I was eight, and it was the first novel I had read (everything was kiddy stuff...but I loved to read anything when I was a kid), so that could be why I like Pern the best.

I hadn't heard anything about it...I asked my sister, who is a huge McCaffrey fan (and, incidentally, the one who left a book where an impressionable--no pun intended--eight year old could get her grubby mitts on it), and she hasn't either. She did say Andre Norton passed away recently though.

As for the bunnies...I'm trying to feed them, but I've just redone my computer and need to get either Word again or download that Open Office thing that ff.net advertises for. I dislike using wordpad and notepad.

I thought McCaffrey has always allowed original character fic set in her series, but had asked that no one write about her characters. Has she changed that? Cool.
